David J. Block Crisis Stabilization Unit

 The David J. Block Center Crisis Stabilization Unit, located at 841 E. Chestnut, opened for clients on July 11, 2007. Our community has benefitted greatly from the availability of 8 additional psychiatric crisis stabilization beds. Since each night at the CSU costs roughly half as much as a bed in a hospital psychiatric unit, the Block Center saves our community nearly $700,000 each year. With recent reductions in hospital beds in our community, client needs consistently outpace availability. The David J. Block Center takes pressure off our healthcare delivery system and provides a highly supported, home-like alternative for individuals in crisis who can be treated outside of a hospital setting.
